Millennium named ‘Deutsches Sportpferd Elite Stallion of the Year’

By Equestrian Life

Trakehner stallion Millennium, owned by Gestüt Sprehe in conjunction with Sächsische Gestütsverwaltung and ridden by Australian Simone Pearce, has been named the sixth ‘Deutsches Sportpferd Elite Stallion of the Year’.

Bred by Dr. Bettina Bieschewski, the now 14-year-old son of Easy Game out of Merle (Ravel x Consul) made a name for himself in the competition arena at an early age: at four years old he won numerous tests, and has since been trained to S-Class level where he’s been successful on the international stage under Simone Pearce.

Simone attended the Deutsches Sportpferd (DSP) Stallion Day to present Millennium and accept the award. It was an appearance that impressively demonstrated the horse’s quality.

“After proving himself successfully in the sport internationally and winning his Big Tour debut last month, as well as being one of the leading sires in the world… this award really signifies his all around greatness. Working with this special horse over the last few years, he really has stolen my heart and I’m so happy and proud to see him getting all the recognition he deserves,” said Simone via social media.

Millennium's success as a sire has long been evident. In 2014 he made his debut as a sire of stallions, and with Sir Zanzibar and Morricone he provided the winner of both the Trakehner and the Oldenburg licensing; further winners and premium stallions followed. In the meantime, the number of his licensed sons has grown to a proud 76 - the last one was added at the DSP Stallion Day. In addition, through his son Maracaná, he was also the grandfather responsible for a premium stallion at the event.

He also attracted attention as a sire of mares. In 2016 he presented the winning mare at the Baden-Württemberg mare show in Weilheim/Teck, and 108 of his daughters have already been awarded a State Premium title. Well over 400 of his offspring are registered as competition horses; he’s produced a reserve Bundeschampionate and World Championship finalist with the licensed DSP Marc Cain, as well as finalists in the Nuremberg Castle Cup. Despite their comparatively young age, 13 of his sons and daughters are already competing at Big Tour level. His foals are very popular, and in 2016 he produced the top-priced foal at the DSP Elite Foal Auction in Nördlingen.
