Early morning drizzle cleared to mostly blue skies on Friday at Adelaide Equestrian Festival, with the Horseland CCI4*S combinations first into the dressage arena this morning.

Hazel Shannon and WillingaPark Clifford, three-time Adelaide CCI5*L winners, led the field at the break on 31.4 (68.61%), before Oliver Barrett posted 30.5 (69.51%) with Sandhills Special in the second half of the draw to take over the lead.

However, it was the second-last combination into the arena, Shenae Lowings and Bold Venture, who ultimately claimed the number one slot ahead of tomorrow’s cross country. The 2022 FEI World Championship competitors – who were victorious in the CCI4*S here at Adelaide last year – scored 27.8 (72.22%) and were first with all three judges, Beverley Shandley (H), Seppo Laine (C) and Nicoli Fife (B).

Oliver and Sandhills Special ended the day in second, while Hazel Shannon and Clifford were third. In fourth place was Jessica Rae with Rascal on 32.9, while Shenae Lowings also claimed fifth spot with Chasing Great on 33.1.
