British dressage rider Spencer Wilton’s Australian coaching trip took an unfortunate turn last week, when he ruptured a disc in his lower back.

Wilton, who was part of the 2016 British Olympic silver medal winning dressage team, was admitted to Sydney’s Prince Charles Hospital on June 3rd when the back pain he was experiencing on arrival in Australia became debilitating.

Having undergone successful surgery on Saturday 8th June, Wilton is hoping to be released from hospital on Wednesday 12th June and fly back to England this coming weekend.

On his Facebook page Spencer Wilton Dressage, Wilton has praised the medical team that assisted him in Australia, and thanked his friends and followers for the many messages of support he has received during his unplanned hospital stay.

We wish Spencer all the best for his recovery, and look forward to seeing him back in the saddle soon.
