Pryde’s EasiFeed Australian Senior Championship

The feature class of the event certainly had some unexpected twists and turns today. At the end, it was a well deserved win to Tom McDermott and Elegance De La Charmille with the pair finishing on 4 faults at the top of leaderboard. Tom started the final on 0 penalties, but had a rail in a difficult first round where there was only one clear by Katie Laurie and Casebrook Lomond, who went on to finish in fourth place after having a rail on the second round.

Speaking at the presentation, Tom thanked Boneo Park and his sponsors, as well as his horse. “This mare is such a great little horse. She’s a real fighter and loves the pressure.” Tom also thanked all those who have supported him through a tough couple of months with family illness.

Runner up Olivia couldn’t have been happier to see Tom take the top prize. The same age, they have competed through the junior and young rider ranks together. “Tom’s a bit like Winx, and I’ve always come second to him,” laughed Olivia. “The biggest congratulations to Tom, he deserves it!”

Next came Katie Laurie and Casebrook Lomond in fourth, Tom McDermott and his other ride Alpha Activity in fifth, Chris Chugg and PSS Levilensky in sixth, Katie Laurie and Django in seventh, Melissa Blair and Zidora in eighth, Elliot Reeves and Avenden Indigo on ninth, and Billy Raymont rounding out the top ten with Anssioso Z.

IRT Australian Young Rider Championship

The IRT Australian Young Rider Championship Final was a thrilling class, and what amazing young riders we have here in Australia! After two rounds, the class came down to a three-way jump off between Amelia Douglass, Jessie Rice-Ward and Madeline Sinderberry. All three carried four penalties into the jump off, and with all three then jumping clear it came down to the clock. Madeline and Ciel were the fastest on course in 45.07 seconds, leaving Jessie Rice-Ward and CP Southern Cross in second on 47.67 seconds and Amelia Douglass and Sirius Du Granit in third on 50.37 seconds.

“I’m lost for words,” said 4CYTE ambassador Madeline following her win. “This mare is only seven years old and has never jumped this big in competition before, and never had to jump off over three rounds… especially against competitors like Amelia and Jessie!”

Jessie was thrilled with finishing runner up, recognizing the quality of competition in the jump off. “You can’t feel safe with Maddie following you!” she laughed. Amelia was also pleased with the results, as she also finished fifth and sixth with her two other horses. “They jumped their hearts out for me today,” she said.
