Olympic gold medallist Andrew Hoy has taken to Twitter to express gratitude and disappointment following yesterday’s pre-Games staging camp announcement. UK based Hoy had a remarkable four horses eligible for selection for the long-list for the Australian Olympic Eventing Team for the 2016 Rio di Janeiro Olympic Games: Algebra, Cheeky Calimbo, Rutherglen & The Blue Frontier.

Andrew Hoy is one of our most decorated Olympians and has been to more Games than any other Australian, having been previously selected for seven Olympic Games. Andrew made his Olympic debut in Los Angeles in 1984, but says his most memorable Olympic experience was securing team gold on home ground at Sydney 2000.

While Andrew has expressed disappointment following the pre-Games staging camp announcement, he has expressed thanks to owners, team and sponsors in a Twitter post yesterday afternoon.

Riders named for the long-list for the pre-Games staging camp are Stuart Tinney, Samantha Birch, Christopher Burton, Sam Griffiths, Sonja Johnson, Bill Levett, Shane Rose and Paul Tapner. Read the announcement here.
