Top class understudy for Team Griffiths…William Fox-Pitt to ride again at HorseWorldLive!
The Saturday of HorseWorldLive is packed with the top names and legends of eventing, and now William Fox Pitt can be added to the impressive list! Saturday 17th November is dedicated to Express Eventing - the 'one seat sees all', compact version of eventing.
The revised format of Express Eventing guarantees the top names from the world of eventing, while offering the athletes involved the flexibility to recruit a substitute rider for one competition round, excluding the Final, during the 2012-2013 Series.
Australian Olympic rider Sam Griffiths had long standing commitments that meant he would be unable to attend the series opener, so he had to ensure that 'Team Griffiths' was left in safe hands. Eventing legend, William Fox Pitt, will now ride Real Dancer on Sam's behalf in the first round held at HorseWorldLive!
William, who is one of the most successful British event riders of all time, needs no introduction. He took part in the very first Express Eventing competition in 2008 and has followed it's development throughout. Speaking today, he commented,
"I think Express Eventing is a great concept and is now taking the sport of eventing to a new and wider audience. In 2010, the competition was restricted to Young Riders and during the 2011 Series, I was rather focused on London 2012, but I am delighted to be taking part in the first round of the Series particularly on a horse that has competed so successfully before."
Sam Griffiths added, "Really, who better is there to increase your chances of doing well than William Fox Pitt. I have also chosen fellow Australian, Bill Levett as my second team rider for the first round of the Series, so there is a serious possibility that I won't get my place back!"
William will also be performing in his masterclasses on the Friday of HorseWorldLive. 'Power, Performance and Perfection' will provide visitors with a unique insight into the techniques that William uses to train his horses, right up to Olympic level.
HorseWorldLive is London's newest three-day equestrian show, boasting the top names of equestrianism, shopping, shows, demos and talks…all under one roof! Held at London ExCeL 16-18 November.
