2018 Australian Dressage Championships concludes

After five days of competition, the 2018 Australian Dressage Championships has come to an end at Boneo Park in Victoria.

The final day’s action saw three Grand Prix combinations contest the GP Special CDN class. It was Rozzie Ryan and Adonie who won on a score of 67.042%, followed by Alycia Targa and CP Dresden on 66.702% and Susan Elekessy on Don Rubin on 66.255%.

The Prix St Georges Stars of the Future class saw some great young horses in action. Robert Harrison Schmerglatt and Fiderfurst won on a big score of 73.206%, with a score as high as 75.294% form the judge at B. Second went to David Shoobridge on Kalimna Hotshot (69.912%), while Charlotte Pedersen and Baunehojens Diamond Dancer came third (69.383%).

The young rider classes all rode their freestyle tests today. The CDI-J Freestyle went to Jasmine Haynes and Umbro on 69.742%, the CDI-Y Freestyle went to Micky Bray and Flowervale Florenz 69.875%, and the CDI-U25 GP Freestyle went to Kate Farrell and Luxor 118 on 71.125%.

The hotly contested Medium classes (4.2 and 4.3) also took place on the last day. Matthew Dowsley capped of a very successful championships to ride Santiago into first place in both classes. After winning both Advanced classes with this horse, Dowsley scored 74.316% in the 4.2 and 73.469% in the 4.3. Elliot Patterson and She’s Nice was runner up on both classes and were the only other combination to score over 70% - which they did on both occasions. David Shoobridge and Yarramee Serendipity finished third in the 4.3, while Ruth Schneeberger and Roxleigh Fidelio finished third in the 4.2.
