Australian dressage team named for Nations Cup in Compiègne

By Equestrian Life

Australia has fielded a dressage team for the CDIO5* Nations Cup in Compiègne, France (2-5 May), with three combinations set to start at the prestigious event.

Jessica Dertell and Cennin, Mary Hanna and Ivanhoe, and Lyndal Oatley with Dante’s Herzchen have all been named on the event’s masterlist.

“Super excited to be riding alongside Mary Hanna and Lyndal Oatley, let’s go team Australia!” said 19-year-old Jessica, who only recently travelled to Europe with Sabble Farm’s 17-year-old Dutch Warmblood stallion to continue their campaign for the Paris Olympics. The pair left Australia on 9 April for The Netherlands and are based at Annemieke Vincourt-Krom's yard for the northern hemisphere spring and early summer.

Mary Hanna and Ivanhoe also recently made the journey abroad, with the six-time Olympian announcing Ivanhoe’s safe arrival in Europe on 12 April: “So happy to see him settle into his new surroundings so quickly. A big thank you to IRT for taking such good care of him, and Daniel Ramseier for welcoming us to these beautiful stables.”

Lyndal Oatley – who is based in Germany – only recently debuted ‘Herzi’ at international Big Tour level, but already the combination has had promising results, with 70.304% in the CDI3* Grand Prix and 76.665% in the Freestyle at Aachen CDI in March.

Speaking to Equestrian Life for our April magazine, Lyndal explained she’s had Herzi since the mare was seven (and is now 10): “She has it all!  I feel this horse is capable of very big things and her talent and attitude in the arena are very special.

“I am very excited about her. If Charlotte Dujardin is trying to get me to have another baby to steal her, you know you have something special!”
